Assistance Programs

About Our Assistance Programs

We offer a range of programs to prepare your child for the real world.  We also work with parents to make sure they have the right strategies and are cared for too.

Early Childhood Intervention (ECEI) from 18 months to 9 years

  • Involves an initial assessment covering all strands of learnings and development to determine the areas to be prioritised and to identify the barriers or challenging behaviours that may interfere with learning.
  • Parent and team training (initial and ongoing).
  • Progress is monitored, and programs are adjusted during fortnightly or monthly consultations.
  • Preschool/School consultations to assist with inclusion.
  • Home and Centre based consultations to assist with generalisation.
  • If a full ABA program is recommended the weekly hours will build to 20+ hours/week to achieve the best outcome (see research).

Therapeutic Supports (Learning Independence) from 9 to 16 years

  • Involves an initial assessment of child at home to produce an individualised program to focus on the areas of independence, leisure and life skills.

  • Observation and meeting with teachers at school to discuss areas that the child may require additional assistance with.

  • Parent and team training (initial and ongoing).

  • Fortnightly consultations for ongoing progress of programs.

  • Home and Centre based consultations for generalisation.

  • Regular school meetings with teachers as required.

Program Supervision

Leaps Ahead Early Intervention offers expert supervision and training for parents, school educators, therapy assistants, and for anyone who is involved in the child’s learning programs. Our experienced supervisors offer professional guidance and support throughout all stages of the child’s learning process.

We offer supervision in person or online for those families outside Hobart who sometimes need the service promptly and cannot wait for us to arrange travel.

Is your child struggling to learn?

We can help by using evidence-based methods like Applied Behaviour Analysis and Positive Behaviour Support to help your child with autism or other developmental delays improve essential life skills and help children learn.
Leaps Ahead Early Intervention acknowledges the muwinina and palawa peoples as the traditional owners and custodians of land, sea, sky and waterways of trowunna/lutruwita (Tasmania).

We pay our respects to elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

We recognise a history of truth which acknowledges the impacts of invasion and colonisation upon Aboriginal people resulting in the forcible removal from their lands.

We stand for a future that profoundly respects and acknowledges Aboriginal perspectives, culture, language and history; and a continued effort to fight for Aboriginal justice and rights paving the way for a strong future.
